Barenbrug Export Operations Update March 2018

By Mel Parish

After enjoying the break over Christmas/New Year, Barenbrug International Operations are all back on board.

Shipping is starting to kick in now for 2018. We are working with the cleaning sheds and packers to get seed cleaned, on test and shipped as soon as we can.  Availability of food quality 20’/ 40’ containers and space on vessels ex Australia seems to be ok at the moment but I would expect to see this to tighten up over the next month or so as exports pick up ex Australia.  Shipping lines have introduced a USD$250.00 fine per container for any change or cancelation of bookings 10 days prior to vessel arrival into the Australian port so forward planning and management of our bookings is crucial.

It’s always a challenge trying to keep up to date with customs regulations in each country.  Information provided to us regarding any changes to country requirements or current weed lists is helpful.  We also ask that when reviewing copy documents prior to originals being sent, all details including company names/street address are correct and comply with your customs entries.  Some clients have had issues with customs import clearance due to this information being slightly different.
